Yikes, Country Music Songwriter Matt McGinn Faces Charges of Kidnapping and threatening dog

Last week, Matthew McGinn faced serious legal charges, as he was incarcerated in Metro Nashville Jail. The allegations against him include violating an order of protection, kidnapping, and engaging in aggravated assault with a weapon following a hostile encounter with his girlfriend, Carly Strickland.

As reported by Scoop Nashville, the unsettling incidents that led to the order of protection being filed against McGinn on October 27th unfolded in a chaotic manner. During a heated argument on October 26th, McGinn allegedly hindered Strickland from leaving his residence, accompanying his objection with violent threats.

Disturbing audio recordings captured McGinn expressing malicious intentions towards Strickland and her pet, projecting a menacing atmosphere. Strickland recounts the horrifying ordeal, detailing how McGinn manipulated the environment with aggressive actions and harsh words, leaving her in a state of immense fear and vulnerability.

Regrettably, this is not an isolated incident of violent behavior from McGinn, as documented in previous police reports. Strickland’s petition to the court emphasizes the necessity of maintaining a secure distance from McGinn to ensure her safety and well-being.

McGinn is scheduled for a court appearance on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.

On the professional front, McGinn is recognized for his significant contributions to the country music landscape, celebrated as the SESAC Songwriter of the Year in 2018 and 2020. His illustrious portfolio is embellished with a myriad of top-charting hits and collaborations with renowned artists, exemplifying his creative prowess in the industry.

We will wait and see as these are allegations at this point, but it's not looking good.
